I am teaching summer school this month and have 1st grade。 I am trying to read my students at least one book a day。 Picture books work great for them， as they are struggling readers and love to look at the pictures。 I rated this book five stars because the kids loved interacting with the book during story-time。 The loved looking at the pictures of gross pizzas and talking about the toppings the characters ended up putting on their party pizza。

Pete the Cat decided to throw the perfect pizza party。 He invites all his friends， and the fun is about to begin when suddenly they realize that each one's idea of a perfect pizza may be different than the others。Oh Pete the Cat。。。 I'm honestly shocked my daughter loves these books so much。 The art is not the finest and is rather simplistic， the authors use words/phrases like "groovy" and "out of sight" which she doesn't really hear except， well， in Pete the Cat books， but she just delights in a Pete the Cat decided to throw the perfect pizza party。 He invites all his friends， and the fun is about to begin when suddenly they realize that each one's idea of a perfect pizza may be different than the others。Oh Pete the Cat。。。 I'm honestly shocked my daughter loves these books so much。 The art is not the finest and is rather simplistic， the authors use words/phrases like "groovy" and "out of sight" which she doesn't really hear except， well， in Pete the Cat books， but she just delights in all of Pete's antics。It's a cute book。 If you're trying to read it at a fairly quick pace， I suggest reading it a few times to get a rhythm to it before trying it aloud。 It's repetitive， but the amount of alliteration you'll encounter by the last couple of pages is rather impressive。 My daughter finds this one funny， and loves the endpapers which show a bunch of。。。 interesting alternate pizza choices including smelly socks。 While it may not be the finest of the Pete books， it does make for a fun read and one apparently required any time we decide to eat pizza。 3/5 stars 。。。more

This one is cute and silly。 I am not personally a huge fan of the way that these books are written; however， many young children （including my own） love them， so there must be something I am missing。 Perhaps it is the music - many of them， including this one， include some sort of sing-song chorus that is repeated at various points through the book。
